Keep in mind that both meals were equal in calories, so swapping your skim milk and cereal for a Bacon & Cheese McMuffin is probably not a good idea. Throwing a little less cereal into your bowl and adding some chopped almonds on the other hand, would most likely be beneficial. Here are some other ideas for how you can you to take advantage of these findings:
- Add some avocado or peanut butter to your toast and skip the second piece of bread.
- Toss some chopped almonds or flaxseeds into your oatmeal and skip the honey (or use less).
- Instead of adding a chopped banana to a bowl of cereal, mix the banana up with plain yogurt and sprinkle some cereal on top.
- Have a small muffin instead of a large one and slather it with creamy Greek yogurt.
- Forget the Nutri-Grain bar and stuff some hummus into a whole wheat pita with sliced, fresh tomato for a breakfast on the go.
